Lesson 4.

How To Interpret focus Tarot Cards

There are literally hundeds of books, which tell you how to read tarot cards and that each card means a particular thing, however, to read the cards acurately, you have to learn to listen to your own intuition and go with what you feel the cards are saying to you.

Reading a tarot card means being aware of your first reaction to the card. Notice how the tarot card make you feel, don't censor anything you get. Look closely at the images, what do you feel the card is saying to you?

You may be drawn to a particular colour on the card, what does that colour make you feel of? i.e. Red - passion, anger, warning, love.

You can write down your thoughts, or to enable you to stay focused, you could tape record yourself. Just speak out loudly what you see in the card.

Once you've done that, you may need to consider how that card and your interpretation of it, relates to your life right now. Let's look at how I might interpret this card, if I'd picked the four of cups as my focus card for the day.

First feelings of the card warmth. Cups represent emotions and love, the large expanse of blue represents communication for me and the green representing healing. A hand is offering a cup to the person sat under the tree, but the person's body language looks defensive and unaccepting. The person is also looking at the three cups on the floor, as though the cup being offered isn't any different to those on the floor, I feel withdrawn, self absorbed, demotivated. I feel as though this person is rejecting whoever is offering them the cup of love. Now if I related this to me, I feel the card could be telling me I need to heal any misunderstandings and be more communicative in my relationship, I may be acting emotionally distant to my partner and reflecting on previous relationships that didn't prove to be very successful. In the event I was single, I would see this card as being a sign that I was too self-absorbed and that I needed to become more motivated. I need to look at involving myself in activities that bring meaning and fun back into my life.

Once you begin to tune into your tarot cards, you will find it opens a whole new meaning to your life. Keep a diary of your readings that you do for yourself, so you can compare how the same cards were interpreted, you should over time be able to see a pattern forming.

Once you've seen how simple this is, you'll be able to move towards simple spreads like a three card spread and a horoscope spread.

If you're interested in learning a more variety of spread, I'd recommend the following books:-
